Everglades Fishing Report

imageJune finally here, the fishing has turned red hot, providing us with  great action! When  we left my dock this morning, we decided to head north of Everglades city and try our luck at some snook fishing . When we arrived at the first spot, the snook were crashing bait along the shore. Within minutes of cast out a riptide jig, we were hooked up with a beautiful 30 inch snook . After catching several more snook, with a few redfish mixed in, we decided to stopped by a nearby pompano spot. While at the new location we caught 4 nice pompano up to 5 lbs. Those pompano were going on to my clients grill tonight for dinner for sure! Don’t miss out on some great fishing this month! Give me a call a let me get you out on the water for a great day of fishing!

Everglades Fishing Report

May is just about over, and, the fishing this month has been great! The snook fishing has been good, with some nice size fish being caught on the outside points and in the the mouths of the rivers . The redfishing has also been good, with a lot of nice sized fish being caught on the oyster bars, on the falling tides. Most of the redfish we have been catching has been  between 4 to 10 lbs. The trout this month have been providing us with some non stop action! May is the time of year when trout are spawning, so they will average bigger in size. On my charter the other day, we scored, with a trout that tipped the scale at 7 lbs! With the month of June a few days away, the fishing should be just as good as in May. We are looking forward to some great non stop action! If you would like to get out on the water for a beautiful day of fishing,  give me a call, and let’s go catch some fish!

Today’s Fishing Report

imageToday’s fishing in the Everglades was filled with some great action! Since the tide rising, we decided to head way south to Lostmans river to fish for redfish and snook . The bait we were using today, was, live shrimp that work great this time of year. After getting anchored up, it didn’t take long before we scored with a nice 32 inch redfish, that weight in at 14 lbs! After catching several more redfish, with a few beautiful snook mixed in, we decided to make a drift across a grass flat. While at the grass flat, we caught several nice trout and pompano . The fishing in May has been great, providing us with steady action!  If you would like to get out on water for a day a fishing, give me a call!

Today’s Everglades Fishing Report

The weather this week in the Everglades has been perfect. The water temperature has been in the mid 80s, and,  the fish have been on the bite! The first spot we stopped at this morning, was a beach front, that had a hard oyster bottom. Within minutes of casting out a live shrimp under a popping cork, we were hooked up with a beautiful snook, that was in the 10 pound range . After  catching a few more snook, we headed toward a deep pass, where the tarpon have been coming through. After 15 minutes of soaking a  ladyfish, we were hooked up with a  tarpon that was in the 75 lb range! We had been putting up a 10 minute fight, when the tarpon jumped, and threw the hook and swam off  . May is one of the best months for fishing in the Everglades! Give me a call and let me get you out on the water for a great day of fishing!

Get Ready For Some Great May Action

image

May is my favorite month for fishing in the Everglades. May is when the tarpon fishing is in full swing. About a Mile offshore, big schools of tarpon are moving in and the fish should be plentifully, and  on the bite. Most of the tarpon we catch this time of year averages between 60 and 150 lbs. Tarpon are a challenge to catch, but once you are hooked up with one, you will be in for a fight you will never forget! May is also a great time of year for catching snook. Since the freeze a few years ago, the snook have been making a great come back. Snook, pound for pound, are one of the best fighting fish that swim in the Everglades . The best way to catch snook this time of year is to use live pilchards, or a fresh cut piece of ladyfish, that snook can’t resist .  The redfishing should also be good in May. Redfish, like snook, hang around the oyster bars and will also  feed on the same bait as snook do .  May is also the best time for catching trout. This is the time of year when trout are spawning, so they will average bigger in size and be on the bite . May is one of the busiest times for fishing. Don’t miss out on some great action! Give me a call, and let’s go catch some fish!
