Today’s Everglades Fishing Report

The weather today when we left my dock in  Everglades City was perfect hot and no wind so we decided to run about 1mile offshore and fish a nearby wreck for trout . After anchoring up and casting a riptide jig for a few minutes the trout started to bite we caught several nice trout up to 5 lbs. After  getting our fill of trout we headed inshore to fish the rising tide for snook the bait we where using was fresh cut ladyfish that we caught early in the day . After waiting about 15 minutes without a bite the snook finally moved in and started to feed we caught a good number of nice snook up to 12 lbs . Snook season open September 1 so don’t wait , book your days now and let me get you into some great action

The bait we where using today was live finger mullet and fresh cut ladyfish that snook and redfish love to eat this time of year . The first spot we stop at was a shoreline that oyster bottom , and within 2 minutes of our first cast we scored with a nice redfish that tip the scales at 8 lbs .after catching several more nice redfish we headed to and outside point where the tide was rising and the snook where hanging out , we caught several good size snook up to 14 lbs . Snook are one of the most popular fish that we like to catch here in the Everglades  and is one of the best eating fish there is , if you want to get into some great fishing give me a call and let me set you up on your next fishing adventure

Shark Fishing Report

image

Today when we left my to in Everglades City my clients wanted to do some shark fishing so we  caught some live ladyfish for bait and headed down south to the Houston river where a lot of big sharks like to pass through . The best was to catch big sharks is to use a 5.0 hook ,100 lb steel leader and float  the live bait under a balloon . After about a 15 minute wait we had our first shark on ,it was a bull shark that was in the 100 lb range and after a 25 minute fight we released the fish unharmed . As the morning went on we hook several more bull sharks with a  couple nice black tip sharks mixed in . With the water temperatures in the Everglades in the upper 80’s the shark fishing has been excellent providing with some great action . If you like to get into some great action give me a call and let’s go catch some fish
