April’s Fishing Starts Off Red Hot

imageWhen we left my dock this morning we started to head to a nearby grass flat, to fish for trout and pompano . When  we arrived at the flat, the trout where schooled up and hungry! On our first two drifts, we scored with 11 beautiful trout, and pompano, that were up  to the 5 lbs range. As we were starting another drift, we noticed that the tarpon were starting to move in. We decided to bait up our heavier  rods with live ladyfish, and try our luck. Within minutes of casting out our bait, we were hooked up with a tarpon in the 80 lb range! After a 45 minute fight, we released the tarpon, unharmed . Later on in the day, the wind started to blow pretty hard out of the west. We decided to head back to the dock, and clean the trout we caught. When we finished cleaning up, we decided to have the oyster house restaurant cook  up the trout, for a great fish dinner. April fishing has started out great, providing with some non stop action! If your looking to get out on the water, and catch some fish, give me a call!
